National Cheese Day

Well, I'd prefer cheese and bread to anything sweet. So this is my day.
All I can think is this...

Maytag Bleu - just stunningly wonderful.
Stilton
Red Leicester
Cheddar - real cheddar
Sweet Home Farm - to you, I raise my glass. You make me happy.
Cowgirl Creamery - wish you were closer.
I can't believe I didn't post about home made mascarpone cheese - damn it - will rectify that situation. It was unreal. No, really it was. Made some excellent polenta.
Neal's Yard - oh, I miss England so much (See Stilton, Red Leicester, Cheddar).
Murray's - okay. Are you the dorky Scrubs fan who just wants to yell -- "Murray." I just would love to live in a big city...

Well, I could go on and on (and on and one), but will not. Suffice it to say. Sigh. There is only so much cheese in the world. It's still one of my favorite things in the world.

Sweet Home Farm

Last Friday was perfect - totally perfect - in every possible way. MotH and I took the day off and went to Sweet Home Farm and then to lunch at one of our favorite places - for the first time since the fall - the Oar House. I spent more than my share of cheese allowance for certain $33.97 at Sweet Home Farm.
Cajun Spice - $3.48, 1/4 pound
Garlic Gouda - $3.48, 1/4 pound
Baldwin - $6.37, 1/2 pound
Perdido - $4.48, 1/4 pound
Aged Jubilee - $7.52, 1/4 pound (new to me)
Gouda - $6.27, 1/2 pound
$2.37 to the State of Alabama - wait, what?? Alabama charges sales tax on food? You've so got to be kidding me - WTH?
We had to go to SWF on a Friday - they are too busy on Saturday and you can't get in and I'm impatient - I'm not interested in lining up. That said, I still had to put up with people who had no clue what they wanted - tourists ... SHF should have one side of the counter for the clueless and the other side for those how know they are going to get a half pound of Baldwin no matter what ...

The best $18.34

Went to Sweet Home Farm today. They make wonderful, fabulous, outstanding cheese. They are a small local farm that I wish we had more of around here. I first became aware of them through the Pensacola News Journal's limited food section. We've been going there since 2003 and I've never(!) been disappointed. They are very popular which I totally understand but I can't figure out why there aren't more places like this nearby.
